🌧️ The rain comes after midnight. Then you hear it. Ting. Ting. The drip is landing in the basin you left under the ceiling. You get up in the dark, empty it, and push the bed away from the wall again.

Heavy rain runs over the patch, not into your house
The tape you tried before was thin. It let go in the first rain.
This one is a thick layer of butyl rubber, 1.2 mm, under an aluminium face. Underneath it stays soft and sticky. You press it down and it fills the hole and the rough rust around it. On top, the aluminium takes the sun and the rain.
No gap left for the water to find.
Your old mabati gets a patch, not a new roof
At 10 cm wide, one strip covers the nail hole and the rust around it with room to spare. It stretches over the ridges of the mabati and around the curve of a gutter or a pipe.

Frequently Asked Questions
❓ Will it really hold in heavy rain and hot sun?
On a clean, dry surface, yes, that is what it is made for. The butyl underneath stays soft and sealed, and the aluminium face takes the rain and the sun on the roof. You also check the roll at the door before you pay a shilling.
❓ Why KSh 3,900 when I have seen tape for less?
Many rolls sold online are 5 cm wide. This one is 10 cm wide, 1.2 mm thick and 5 metres long: about 20 patches, around KSh 195 each. Delivery is free, you pay only after checking it, and you have 7 days to send it back and get your cash.
❓ Will it stick on my old, rusty mabati?
Yes, if you prepare the spot. Brush off the loose rust and dust with a wire brush or a rough cloth, wipe it dry, then press the tape down hard. Cover at least 5 cm past the hole on every side. If a whole sheet is rusted through, that sheet needs replacing: the tape is for holes, cracks and joints.
❓ What if the edge lifts after I put it on?
Almost always the spot was damp or dusty. The butyl needs a dry surface to grip. Peel it off, clean and dry the spot, cut a fresh piece and press again, firmly along every edge. Do it on a dry morning. On hot midday mabati the tape turns very soft and is harder to handle.
❓ I am not a fundi. Is it hard to put on?
Cut, peel, press. Peel the backing slowly: the tape is very sticky and grabs your fingers and itself, so keep it from folding over. Press from the middle out and rub the edges down. If the leak is on the roof, whoever climbs up needs a steady ladder, and never on a wet roof.
❓ What if it is not what I expected?
Check it when the rider arrives, before you pay. If you change your mind within 7 days, we collect it, we pay for the return and you get your cash back.
