❓ I am not good with phones. Will I manage to set it up?
If you can screw in a bulb and use WhatsApp, you can. Screw it in, switch on, open the free phone app and follow the steps to join your home Wi-Fi. Use your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, which nearly every home router has. The camera needs Wi-Fi where it hangs, so place it within reach of your router. Stuck? Call or WhatsApp our team and we walk you through it.
❓ My bulb holder is the push-and-twist type. Will it fit?
MachoBulb fits E27 screw holders. A bayonet (B22) holder, the push-and-twist type many Kenyan homes have, needs a B22-to-E27 adapter, sold in most electrical shops. The E27 extender in the box helps in deep holders and lampshades. Put it in a holder under a roof: the veranda, the gate shade, the corridor or the shop front, not where rain hits it. Point it at your gate, door and compound, and let the people at home know it is there.
❓ What happens when stima goes, or someone switches it off?
It has no battery. MachoBulb works only while its switch is ON and there is power. In a blackout it stops, and it starts again when the power is back. So leave its switch on all the time. You do not need the wall switch for light: you turn its own light on and off from your phone. Tell everyone at home that this switch stays on.
❓ Will I have to pay every month?
Not for the everyday things. Live view, turning the camera, two-way talk, the light and motion alerts all run on the free phone app. Cloud recording (saving video round the clock to watch later) and the smart alerts that describe what happened are an optional subscription in the app, after a free trial. You choose if you want it. It is never part of your order.
❓ Is the picture clear at night, or just grey shadows?
In the day the picture is 2K. At night the camera switches on its own light and shows you colour. What the light reaches, you see clearly: the gate, the door, the parking below. Far corners in full darkness show less detail, like with any camera.
❓ What if I pay and it is not what I saw here?
You do not pay first. The courier calls you, you open the package at your door and check the camera, and you pay cash only if you are happy. If you change your mind within 7 days, we collect it, we pay the return and you get your cash back.
